Beth McConnell graduated from North Carolina State University and Wake Forest University Law School. First admitted to the North Carolina and Georgia Bars in 1985, she served as a law clerk to the United States Federal Judge in the Western District of North Carolina from 1985-1987. Ms. McConnell joined as an associate and then partner in a larger law firm in the Asheville area from 1987-1999. She was a founding partner of Northup, McConnell & Sizemore in 1999.

For over 20 years, Ms. McConnell has concentrated her practice on the defense of physicians, hospitals, other health care providers and professionals. She has appeared before various licensing boards on behalf of physicians and other professionals. Ms. McConnell is routinely consulted by physicians, hospitals and nursing home facilities on matters of liability and risk management.

Ms. McConnell has litigated insurance coverage issues, personal injury actions, products liability actions and many significant issues before the several state and federal courts in North Carolina. Ms. McConnell is licensed to appear before all North Carolina State Courts, Federal Courts of North Carolina, United Stated Court of Appeals for the Forth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. She has extensive litigation experience in cases involving complex medical issues. Her experience includes successful results for physician defendants, hospitals, nursing home clients and general liability clients.

In her time away from work, Ms McConnell spends time with her two sons; Jeff and Sam, enjoys travel, scuba diving, and the outdoors.
